EU Data Act Product Data Notice Generator

Structure the Article 3(2) information for one connected product, watch the coverage panel fill in, and export a review-ready notice plus PDF, JSON, CSV, QR and marketplace outputs. Follow the five steps below — or load an example to see a finished notice first.

Before treating a notice as required or unnecessary, check connected-product scope and the Article 7 SME exemption.

Informational tooling only. This generator does not provide legal advice, definitive applicability conclusions, official approval or compliance certification.

How to use it

Five steps to a review-ready notice

01

Start from an example or blank

Use “Load example…” at the top of the tool to see a completed notice, then clear it and enter your own. Unsure if the item is in scope? Run the built-in scope checker first.

02

Add issuer and product

Name the seller, rentor or lessor (which may be the manufacturer) and identify the product, family or covered models.

03

Inventory generated data

Add one category per meaningful data type with its format, estimated volume and whether it is generated continuously or in real time.

04

Document storage and access

Record on-device/remote storage and retention, then how users access, retrieve or erase the data, including technical means, terms and quality of service.

05

Check coverage and export

Watch the Article 3(2) coverage panel, resolve review items, then copy, print to PDF, or download JSON, CSV, HTML, a QR code or the full publication ZIP.

Step 1 · Scope

Scope

Notice scope

What you are preparing and the notice metadata.

Add the related-service module (3(3)) only if a digital service meets the Data Act definition.

Recorded for your own review — never a legal determination.

3(2)

The public HTTPS address where this notice will be published. Enables QR and marketplace URLs.

What you get

One record, many outputs

Every output is generated from the same normalized record, so a change flows through to all of them.

Notice text (copy)MarkdownSelf-contained HTMLPrint / Save as PDFGenerated JSONCategory CSVQR code (with URL)Publication ZIPArtifact fingerprintKaufland mappingMediaMarktSaturn mappingbol readiness

Marketplace outputs should follow the channel. Use a bol-ready Product Data Notice document for bol's current upload workflow, a manufacturer information URL for Kaufland's current field workflow, and structured `PROD_FEAT` attributes for MediaMarktSaturn. Read the bol seller guide and the Kaufland seller guide and the MediaMarktSaturn seller guide before production use.

Drafting from a blank page? Use the Product Data Notice template and worked example alongside your verified product facts.

For a qualifying product-linked service, review the Article 3(3) Related Service Data Notice requirements separately from the Article 3(2) product notice. The related-service module has its own coverage matrix.

Planning a product release? The 12 September 2026 Article 3(1) guide explains why publishing a notice does not replace implementing data access by design.

How-to FAQ

Using the generator

Practical questions about running the tool. For the legal detail, read the Article 3 guide. For marketplace handoff, compare the bol document workflow and the Kaufland URL workflow and the MediaMarktSaturn attribute workflow.

Do I need an account, and is it really free?

+
No account and nothing to install. The generator is free and runs entirely in your browser.

Does my product data leave my browser?

+
No. Everything is processed locally in your browser and the draft autosaves to this browser only. You export the files yourself — RegCatalog does not upload the product information you enter.

Where should I start?

+
Open “Load example…” at the top of the tool to see a fully completed notice, then use “Clear/reset draft” and enter your own facts. Otherwise, follow the five steps above from the top of the form.

What do the coverage colours mean?

+
The Article 3(2) coverage panel tracks completeness for each information group: green = complete, amber = review required or marked unknown, red = missing, grey = not applicable. It is a completeness aid for review — not a compliance score or legal certification.

What is the difference between blank, “Unknown” and “No”?

+
Blank means the information has not been provided yet (missing). “Unknown” is an explicit “we don’t know” and is flagged for review. “No” is a factual negative — for example, data is not stored remotely — and counts as answered.

How do I get a PDF?

+
Click “Print / Save as PDF” and choose “Save as PDF” in your browser’s print dialog. The form controls are hidden automatically so only the notice is printed.

When can I generate a QR code?

+
Enter a real, published HTTPS address in the “Intended canonical URL” field (Scope & notice). The QR button then points to that stable URL — it never encodes a local browser preview.

What is in the Publication ZIP?

+
A self-contained package: the notice as HTML, Markdown, text and JSON; your editable project JSON; the category CSV; a manifest with a SHA-256 fingerprint; a QR code (if you set a canonical URL); and per-marketplace files.

How do the marketplace mappings work?

+
RegCatalog turns your record into Kaufland and MediaMarktSaturn field values and a bol readiness checklist, each with copy buttons and a “last verified” date. Whether a product is “affected” comes from your own scope confirmation, not from RegCatalog. Verify field IDs against each marketplace’s current documentation; RegCatalog does not submit on your behalf.

When should I turn on the related-service (Article 3(3)) module?

+
Enable it when an app or digital service linked to the product meets the Data Act’s related-service definition. It captures the additional Article 3(3)(a)–(i) information and is reviewed on its own coverage matrix, separate from the product notice.

Will I lose my draft, and can I move it to another computer?

+
The draft autosaves in this browser. Use “Export project JSON” to save a file and “Import project JSON” to load it on another machine. Drafts from older versions of the tool are migrated automatically.

Does this make my product compliant?

+
No. It is informational tooling to structure and review the information — not legal advice or certification. See the Article 3 guide and the disclaimer before publishing.
